Executive Management

Doyle R. Simons

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Doyle joined the company in 1992 serving in various capacities, including corporate attorney, Director of Investor Relations, Vice President of Administration, Chief Administrative Officer and Executive Vice President. Prior to joining Temple-Inland, he was in private practice with Hutcheson and Grundy, L.L.P. in Houston.

Doyle serves on the Board of Directors of Fiserv, Inc. and on the Advisory Councils of the College of Natural Sciences and the Texas Memorial Museum at The University of Texas at Austin.

Doyle holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Texas at Austin.

J. Patrick (Pat) Maley III

President, Chief Operating Officer, Director

Pat joined Temple-Inland in 2003 and most recently served as Executive Vice President, Paper, with responsibility for the company’s 6 containerboard mills and 64 packaging plants. Pat serves on Temple-Inland’s Board of Directors.

Pat has 25 years of industry experience, including 11 years at International Paper where he served as Director of Manufacturing of the containerboard and kraft division. Prior to that assignment, Pat served in various capacities including Mill Manager, Manufacturing Services Director of the containerboard and kraft division, and Segment General Manager of the container business.

Pat holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and has completed extensive leadership training and development programs.

Jack C. Sweeny

Group Vice President, Building Products

Jack previously served the company as Executive Vice President, Forest and Vice President of Operations. He began his career with Temple-Inland as a sales trainee in 1970 and has held executive positions in marketing, manufacturing and forest.

Jack currently serves on the boards of the Diboll Housing Foundation, First Bank & Trust and Memorial Health System of East Texas. He recently served on the board of trustees of Angelina College, Forest Resources Institute at Stephen F. Austin State University and is a past president of the Angelina Neches River Authority. Jack is a graduate of Texas A&M University.

Bart Doney

Group Vice President, Corrugated Packaging Sales and Marketing

Bart is in charge of all sales and marketing for our box plants and mills. He has spent 21 years at Temple-Inland and more than 34 years in the box business.

At Temple-Inland Bart’s career has included box plant General Manager and head of Sales and Logistics in the mill system. In 1998, he was promoted to lead the entire box plant system before moving to his current role in 2005. Bart received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1973.

Dennis Vesci

Group Vice President, Corrugated Packaging Operations

Dennis joined Temple-Inland in 1975 and has held various positions with increasing responsibility in the Corrugated Packaging business including Regional Vice President, Senior Vice President of Operations and Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing.

Dennis provides Temple-Inland with significant experience in plant operations, national account sales, sales and marketing, and is currently responsible for the 64 operating plants in corrugated packaging. Dennis served as a U.S. Army Infantry Officer from 1967-1969 and holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations from Indiana University.

Grant F. Adamson

Chief Governance Officer

Grant joined Temple-Inland in 1991. Today he is responsible for corporate governance, and his role includes SEC and NYSE reporting and compliance, securities law compliance, legal aspects of corporate finance and general matters of corporate law.

Formerly with Dallas-based law firm Jackson & Walker, Grant’s experience includes an extensive background in corporate finance and securities as well as mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, public and private equity offerings, and federal and state securities laws compliance. Grant received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University and is a graduate of Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.

C. Morris Davis

General Counsel

Morris became the company’s General Counsel in 2006. Formerly Managing Partner with Austin law firm McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore, LLP, his 39 years in private practice emphasized transactional and minerals work, including acquisitions and divestitures, business organizations, complex financings, mineral titles, royalty and contract disputes.

Morris has been listed on the Best Lawyers in America for 20 years and is a member of the State Bar of Texas, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas and the U.S. Court of Claims. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Rice University in 1964 and his LL.B., with honors, from The University of Texas at Austin in 1967.

J. Bradley Johnston

Chief Administrative Officer

Brad’s role includes supervising the legal, information systems and technology, core human resources, communications, real estate, government affairs and aviation groups. Prior to his current role, Brad was the company’s General Counsel and also served as the Senior Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel of Temple-Inland Financial Services. Before joining Temple-Inland in 1993, Brad was in private practice with Weil Gotshal & Manges in Houston and Holland & Hart in Denver.

Brad received his Bachelor of Science in Business, magna cum laude, from The University of Colorado. He also has a Juris Doctorate from The University of Colorado School of Law and a Master of Jurisprudence from Stanford Law School.

Randy Levy

Chief Financial Officer

Randy became Temple-Inland’s Chief Financial Officer in 1999 and is responsible for the accounting, tax and treasury functions. In addition, Randy serves as chairman of the company’s pension and investment committee. Randy joined Guaranty Bank as Treasurer in 1989 and served in various other capacities there, including Chief Operating Officer from 1994 through 1999.

Randy has over 30 years of diversified financial and operational experience. Prior to joining Temple-Inland, he served in various financial and treasury positions with several nationally recognized financial institutions and with the Xerox Corporation. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania.

Scott Smith

Chief Information Officer

Scott is responsible for all of Temple-Inland’s information systems and technology. Scott began his career with Temple-Inland at Guaranty Bank in 1985. Having previously held both Chief Information Officer and Chief Financial Officer positions with Guaranty, he became CIO for Temple-Inland in 2000.

Scott is a Certified Public Accountant and received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in 1976.
